The heArt of Business with Bryanna Dee

Oct 9, 2018

Shayla Quinn is the founder of Namastshay, a hub for all things yoga, positivity, health, and PINK. She is a full-time blogger, yoga teacher, and inspirational human being. She is also one of my oldest friends! Shayla has a beautiful story that is truly an example of what you can create in your life when you devote all of your energy… literally ALL OF IT… into transmuting your pain and your shadows into your brightest light.

Our choices create our life, not our circumstances. And it is never too late to choose again.

INVICTUS by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,

I am the captain of my soul.

QUOTES

“When things would get really bad I would go to my mat to try to find the answers. Just as quickly as I would find them, I didn’t feel strong enough to actually do anything about it.”

“Yoga was my passive way of escaping but not actually admitting that I needed to escape, but just being like, I’m going to class.”

“There was a point where I really felt like my only option was to just not be here anymore. It felt like I had dug myself in such a deep hole of shit with him, and there were things that I experienced that I thought that I could never get over. I just sat there for a while and thought long and hard about it and there was something inside of me that said you have to try one more time.”

“I was like, how am I going to get out of this? I need to get more involved in yoga. I want to start my blog. I need to keep myself busy. I am not going to live alone. I am going to just try to focus all of my energy on the things that feel good and bring me joy and hopefully by doing that I will get past this.”
