This is a candid share about my personal experience with mental health -- growing up with mental illness in my family, my own struggles, then going on to work in the mental health field, in mental institutions, nonprofits, prisons, courtrooms, etc.
To sum it up, our mental health medical model is actually a mental illness model that medicalizes and profits off of human despair.
We deserve a lot more.
We have to become activists for our Self and demand more.
Which, first, requires having more of these candid conversations.
